Viareggio's Carnival is one of the most popular Carnival in Italy: the principal feature of this Carnival is the allegorical parade of floats, made, nowadays, with papier-machè (glue,plaster,water and paper).
The allegorical parade takes place on the two magnificent boulevards on the sea-front.
Papier-maché craftsmen spend eight months making these floats: thousands of people come to this town each year to watch the parades and take part in the fun. It is a unique experience!
Since 2002 the Viareggio Carnival has been named Italian and European Carnival.
