It is said that this wine was already produced in 1270, and that Dante Alighieri wrote about it in the Divina Commedia (The Divine Comedy).
Vernaccia is not the only wine produced in this territory: Chianti Colli Senesi, San Gimignano Rosso e Rosato, e il Vin Santo are other famous and prestigious products of San Gimignano’s territory.
By train: you cannot reach San Gimignano, but you can arrive by train in Poggibonsi and from Poggibonsi reach San Gimignano by nus.
By car: from motorway A1 exit at Firenze Certosa, continue direction Siena. Exit Poggibonsi Nord and follow for San Gimignano.
By plane: the nearest airport are Leonardo da Vindi in Florence and the Galileo Galilei airport in Pisa. From these airport you can reach San Gimignano by bus, by train or renting a car.
