The climate

Elba climate is typical Mediterranean climate, with mild temperatures even in the winter period too.

Rains are irregular and in summertime there are long dry periods. Mostly in the island blows the Sirocco wind, in the summer afternoons blows the fresh North-west wind.
The climate influences the island vegetation, that somewhere is rich of pinewoods and woods, somewhere instead reigns the mediterranean scrub, with dune of mirths, wonderful orchids, rosemary and brooms.

Near Capoliveri there is Lido di Capoliveri, a sandy beach 400 metres long, equipped with bath establishments, restaurants and bars. Windsurf schools and many other facilities.
Marina di Campo beach offers many comforts and facilities, and it is near Marina di Campo, the second biggest city of Elba. For these reasons it is always packed.
Cavoli beach is one of the most trendily beaches, it is 360 metres long. It offers many facilities, and it is very easy to reach it. For these reasons, during summer, it is packed by youth, and to find a car park is very difficoult.

Reach Elba Island

By boat: by the regular ferry boats that leave from Piombino and belong to two different companies, the Toremar and the Moby Lines, that give the possibility to sail with your car, too. The passage lasts about 50 minutes, with the arrival on the island at Portoferraio.
By car: reach Piombino port from the north: take the Genoa-Livorno motorway, leave it in Rosignano and drive on the Livorno-Grosseto, as far as Venturina. From Venturina, in a short time, you can reach Piombino.
If you arrive from the north-east direction, you have to drive on the Bologna-Firenze-Pisa-Livorno motorway, leave it in Rosignano and drive on the Livorno-Grosseto, as far as Venturina, 15 Km far from Piombino.
If you arrive from the south, take the Roma-Grosseto motorway drive on the Aurelia road, as far as the exit sign Venturina-Isola d’Elba.
By plane: Marina di Campo airport is connected to the most important Italian and foreign cities.
By train: the railway line is Genova-Roma. You can find the connections to Piombino marittima at Campiglia station.
